Ship History
Viking Yi Dun was built in Italy by shipbuilder Fincantieri as part of a series of identical ocean ships built for Viking, and originally named Viking Sun. The ship began sailing in Europe in 2017. In 2021, the ship became a part of a joint venture between Viking Cruises and China Merchants Group and the ship is currently registered in Shenzhen, China, under the name Zhao Shang Yi Dun, with Viking responsible for all aspects of the onboard experience.
